We were honoured to be part of Katie and Tim's unforgettable Somerset wedding. Kate looked stunning in her white Ivy shirt dress, while her bridesmaids complemented her wearing the black Ivy night shirts. The day was filled with meaningful details, and despite a little rain, it was a celebration full of love and joy.
Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship?
We met on hinge almost 5 years ago now in London, and just have a lot of fun together! We have a little sausage dog who arrived just 4 days before my ring - a wild week!
I work as a physiotherapist and Tim is an account manager.
2. Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favorite details
Our wedding was Scotland meets Somerset, we had a marquee in my parents garden and married in the church I was christened in. We had disco balls hanging from ladders and ivy wrapped around the marquee - perfectly rustic. My favourite details where how personal our wedding was - Tims dad married us (who gets to say that?) and our centre pieces where candles and flowers in saved bottles (ideally ones they have given us or reminded them of us on their table), we had a crossword we had created about us and our brothers brewed the beer and my bridesmaid made our cake. All our table names where our favourite pubs (including our first date location) and we had drawings from a local artist as the table names, We tried to make the day as us and as personal as possible.
3. How did you spend the morning of your wedding? How did you deal with the nerves leading up to the wedding?
I slept in my childhood bed and got ready with my bridesmaids, my parents and my dog. It was lovely and chilled but I didn’t handle my nerves well, a lot of pacing! I hadn’t slept well and just wanted to see Tim - as soon as I saw him all the nerves disappeared and I didn’t stop smiling.
4. Tell us about your main outfits of the wedding day
I wore my Meeka personalised ivy with my new initials and the gals got my some personalised slippers - I felt a true queen in the morning!
I wore a Freda Bennett dress I got from a local bridal shop called Kate Walker (a place to dieeee for - she makes you feel the most important person in the world every time you step in the building). Charlotte mills shoes in the day and a veil - in the evening I swapped to a pearl headband and trainers - me and my husband got matching personalised adidas gazelles with the date on.
5. What items or services did you think were a waste of money? VS what are you so glad you splurged on?
Favours - we had our family make some favoured gin / lemonchello we had in the centre of a table for people to share.
Glad:
finding the right photographer for you is a must - we wanted not to many formal photos and the day not feeling like a photo shot - she made us feel so relaxed and the shots are gorgeeeeee
Stationary - it sets the tone of the whole thing, everyone keeps it, everyone photographed it and the fact everything matched made me so happy. Abbie even matched the colour from our bridesmaids dresses so the level of details and the quality of the work was outstanding.
6. Any advice you would like to give to future brides
Even as a type A bride - you can’t plan the weather - we had the only raining day in 2 weeks of a July heatwave - but it didn’t matter and I think the photos look great for it.
Do a speech! Don’t let people thank people on your behalf, say what you want to say about your family, your team, your partner.
Don’t let people request songs on the dancefloor - make the playlist - we had a one in one system coming up to the last couple of weeks.
